Getting old?

by SimplyAubs on April 1, 2009

I was in bed last night at 9:30pm. Anyone who knows me realizes that is pretty much a miracle, seeing as my normal “bed time” is about 2am (yeah…it’s 1:56am right now). Needless to say, I was tired! Then…my phone rang. My friend asked me what I was doing, I told her I was in bed reading a book. That’s when it happened.

“Dang grandma…sounds like you’re getting old!”

What the junk?! Did my friend just call me old?! Argh! So what did I do? Go to bed and enjoy and nice, full nights’ sleep? Oh noooo…I got caught up in talking to her, making travel plans, researching some things online, and then finally reading the book I was trying to read before she called.

So here I am again….another late night with not a lot to say other then…I refuse to get old. Well, maybe not “I refuse to get old” but rather, I refuse to feel old. In the grand scheme of things, going to bed earlier would be of great benefit to me.

What is YOUR bed time?

I could easily stay up till midnight or later but make myself go to bed at 10 or 11. That way I’m not too tired to take care of the kiddos. If I don’t get enough sleep I’m pretty cranky the next day.

Typically, between 10 and 11. I should probably go to bed earlier, since I get up at 5:45. I think a full night’s sleep is probably what would keep a person feeling younger, or at least well rested.

The rowdy kitten hits the sack by 8pm to read and its lights out by 9:30 at the latest. Of course she does get up at 5am to run, swim and bike so I can’t give her too much of a hard time. ;)

You should try getting 8 hours of sleep each night for a week and see how you feel. The world is a totally different place when you are well rested ;) . By the way, you aren’t old yet. You’ll know your old when you stop answering the phone after 9pm like us. ;)

Ohhh snap! Loganenator gave me up. Yes, I go to bed super early. But I really love the mornings. Being able to workout and get stuff done is the best. My motto: Do what makes you happy. Life is too short to worry about what other peeps think of your habits. Big hugs – we miss you. :)

Right on! I love getting feedback…ya’ll are AWESOME!!!

@Tabitha and @Liz, thanks for sharing. I think I should probably start aiming for between 10 and 11 to get to bed. That would be a good start anyways.

@Loganenator and @RowdyKittens You two crack me up!!! :D I am really going to start working on getting 8 hours of sleep and see how I feel…starting tomorrow. Lol! (I’ve already blown today’s bedtime. Oopsie!) I like to hear about your routine…it helps me to try to start one of my own. I keep saying I want to read more…and if I set a time, like RK, then I can make sure to have reading time. And L, I might just have to stop answering the phone after 9pm. That way I won’t have people calling and telling me I’m old. ;)
So when are you two coming to Nashville? ;)

@RowdyKittens I forgot to say…I really like your motto. I think I might just have to start using that one. :)
